RICHARD’S HEMP SOCK

We have a friend called Richard who loves to wear beige and natural colors. Wait, you might be saying, that’s not particularly exciting. But when we finally found a natural-colored hemp yarn after our long search, you can bet that we thought it was! And it made us very happy when we were able to wear these socks for the first time.

Here’s how it all began:

It started with an idea, but after a year and a half of unsuccessful searching we were – to put it bluntly – getting a little desperate. What we wanted was very simple, or so we thought: an innovative, purely plant-based yarn blend sourced from regional agriculture and local spinning mills. Comfortable to wear, durable, Oeko-tex and GOTS-certified. And preferably a mix of hemp and Tencel (a fine cellulose fiber made from various woods). We ended up faced with a frustrating quest. Time and time again we were told that yarns like that are only made in Asia. But that’s exactly what we didn’t want, as hemp grows here and Tencel is produced in Austria. Luckily, in the end, it all worked out.

Now we can offer you our wonderful hemp socks: comfortably loose, temperature-regulating in hot weather, and great-looking to boot.

21% hemp, 61% tencel, 17% polyamide, 1% elastane
