The plus 12 can be used to measure feet and the inside length of shoes (millimeter scale):

1. It measures the length of a child’s feet and automatically adds 12 mm of clearance for shoes to fit
2. It measures the inside length of shoes (in millimeters, from size 18 to size 45)
